Bug or Coincidence?
« on: 11-08-2009, 20:25:59 »
I just started using FileUploader and I was uploading a ~250MB file to MediaFire using a registered account.  It was uploading fine at my sadly slow max uplink speed.  I checked on it periodically and after about 50% completion I saw that the upload had failed and there was an FIU new version update notification pop-up.  Could there be a bug in the update checking code that caused the upload to fail?  Or is this probably just a big coincidence?

Thanks,
Steve

update notfication doesn't appear during uploading ... that is weird and not probable ... how long did your upload take?

please, you have to send me the Error LOG (from menu). I don't know what is the reaseon ;)
(you can find the error in .err file, send it to me)

I would estimate that the upload failure & update notification were seen ~15-20 minutes in to the upload.   I'm sorry I can't paste an error log because I didn't think about the suspicious coincidence until after I did the update/restart and the error log seems to be cleared.

no no, error log saves ... find the "FileUploader.err" file in the same folder ;)

it is not possible, update notification appears only at start

I did not realize that the error file would change location based on the profile directory setting.  I've found it:

8/11/2009 10:35:38 AM MU:12006:The URL does not use a recognized protocol (mediafire.com)
8/11/2009 10:36:39 AM HTTP: (-1) EclSocketError:Timeout error occured (www.mediafire.com)
8/11/2009 10:36:39 AM HTTP: (-1) EclSocketError:Timeout error occured (www.mediafire.com)
8/11/2009 10:37:14 AM Error #11
8/11/2009 10:53:55 AM MU:12031:The connection with the server was reset (mediafire.com)
8/11/2009 10:53:55 AM Error #11
8/11/2009 11:51:41 AM HTTP: (10038) EclSocketError:An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket. (www.mediafire.com)
8/11/2009 11:51:41 AM
8/11/2009 11:51:41 AM Mediafire error:
8/11/2009 12:06:10 PM AP:Access violation at address 00000000. Read of address 00000000 : EAccessViolation

The 10:35-10:37 are _probably_ harmless because when I first started using FIU I made some mistakes and tried to repeatedly start/stop some uploads.

The 10:53 errors are probably the ones that happened when I saw the update notification.

The 11:51 errors are definately when a mediafire upload completed (and I manually verified it is correct) but FIU was unable to get the download link and marked it failed.

The 12:06 error happened after I tried to use the "send error log" functionality built in to FIU.

Hope that helps!
