Updating via help menu

Goober:
lately for the last two versions 5.3.6 and 5.3.5 anyway (updating from 5.3.4) when I select update from the help menu, it downloads the update but afterwards I click on the new FileUploader.exe and I get an error message about it not being a valid Win32 application or some such.
But when I download the newer version from the main site it works fine.
What could be the cause of this?

probably some corrupted download ... I don't know the reason :(
